Roger was born and raised in Salt Lake City. He attended Grandview Elementary, Hillside & Southeast Junior High Schools, and graduated from Highland High School in 1970. Roger enjoyed participating in sports and was a member of the high school band and orchestra. He also was a member of the All City Choir and All City Orchestra. Roger studied the bassoon for 7 years. Upon graduating from high school he attended the University of Utah . He served an LDS mission to North Central Mexico. After returning home he resumed his studies at the U of U. Roger began working for Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in Sept. of 1975 where he served his apprenticeship.
He attended and graduated with honors from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science.
He married Kathy Ray of South Lake Tahoe in 1976 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Kathy is employed with the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Identification as a manager. They have four children Rob, Kristin, Tami, and Heidi. They have been blessed with 11 grandchildren 6 boys and 5 girls. Roger and Kathy have lived in Kearns for the past 34 years where they have made many friends and life-long relationships. Their children have been involved in competition soccer as well as Kearns High School athletics. Roger has been involved with Utah Youth Soccer for over 25 years. Roger has been an active member of the LDS Church where he has served in numerous callings and was a bishop for nearly 8 years. Roger has devoted his life to his family, church, and his employment and considers himself fortunate to serve the people he loves.
