Obituary for Becky Carnahan

Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Elizabeth Mae “Becky” Carnahan passed away peacefully August 11, 2017. Becky is a cancer survivor and bravely fought multiple medical problems the last two years of her life with patience and grace.
Becky was born to Fred and Opal Johnson January 8, 1940. Becky lived her life full of love and worried always that her loved ones were happy. She was the oldest of four, and with three little brothers to look after, she started a lifetime of care-taking early in life. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.
She was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had the opportunity to serve in many callings, but her favorites were those in the primary. She never met a child she didn't love, and she truly believed the spirit of Christ was closest when serving children.
Becky graduated from West High School and had a lifelong love of learning that saw her continuing to take college courses late into life. She was always happy when learning something new.
She worked as administrative assistant at Salt Lake Community College for many years and, after retiring, decided the best course of action would be to go back to work. She was happy to work with her many friends at SLCC and watch their garden grow.
Becky loved acting and was in many plays over the years. She introduced her kids and grandkids to theater and cultivated a love for musicals that will live on through the generations.
Becky was a beautiful writer and could capture great emotions through her poetry. Her poems will be a cherished piece of family history that will be passed on with love.
Becky is survived by her loving husband, Jack; son Tim (Desirae); daughters: Kellie Ellett, Shannon Graff, and Erin Carnahan; grandchildren: Travis (Mikala) Graff, Zachary Graff, Anna (Daniel) Park, Joe Ellett, Justine (Brooke) Siefert, John Ellett, Elise (Mitch) Strieff, Matt Carnahan, Reganne Carnahan; and 1 great-granddaughter, Eleanor Graff. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Kenneth, Richard, and Ray; and her beloved son, Michael.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Valeo Home Health and Hospice and The Lodge for their kind and loving care of Becky in her last days. You are truly angels sent from heaven.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Becky's name to the Humane Society or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
