Obituary for DeAnn Buttars Savage

DeAnn passed from family suddenly and unexpectedly on August 4, 2017. She was born September 21, 1937 in Logan, Utah to Donald Buttars and Letha Peterson. Wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, nurse, teacher, caregiver, advocate, horse whisperer, dog’s best friend, confidante, and partner in crime. Her influence in and around these roles she held will be an infinite part of her continued legacy.

She married Lynnwood E. Savage in the Logan Temple on September 12, 1957. She later returned to college at BYU to finish her R.N. degree. She worked at Cottonwood Hospital on the Surgical Services floor and was made the afternoon charge nurse. She transferred to the O.R. and then worked for Robert H. Horne Orthopedic Surgeon for over 20 years.

She could play football with the boys and in baseball she was in a “league of her own”. She spent many vacations at Lake Powell with family and friends and she could out ski most anyone.

She is survived by her husband Lynnwood Emmett, children: Richard Lynn (Rose) (Meridian, Idaho) and Kathy (Steven) Foster (Sandy, Utah); brothers: D. Chris, Donald, and Jeffery; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Margie Ann.

She had many years in church service, Primary President, Young Women President and teaching Gospel Doctrine Glass. She was intellectual, nearly to a fault. Her propensity as a theologian remained unfettered throughout her life. She now pontificates with the sun, moon and stars.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6:00—8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S), South Jordan, Utah. A graveside service will be on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Hyrum City Cemetery.

As we say a temporary goodbye to our beloved “wife, mother, grandmother and sister”, we imagine her off to the life hereafter with her brilliant blaze horse, followed by her laddie dog.
