Obituary for Jane Ann Teufel Burdick

Our mother, grandmother, traveling companion, and friend, Jane Ann Teufel Burdick moved on to her next great adventure on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 surrounded by family. Mom was born March 9, 1934 to John Joseph Teufel and Anne Cowley Teufel in Greenwich, Connecticut. She graduated from Northfield School for Girls in 1952, then moved across the country to Beverly Hills, California to attend USC. While in college, Jane joined a car club where she met and married Earl Eugene Burdick (deceased) at All Saints Episcopal Church, Beverly Hills, in 1957. Together they had two daughters, Cynthia and Elizabeth.
After raising her girls, Jane went back to school to finish her degree. She graduated from the University of Utah, College of Health at the age of 52. After graduation, she stayed at the “U”, working in the Human Resource Department coordinating service awards. After retiring from the University, mom started her career as a world traveler. She traveled by air, sea, and rail, alone, with family and with groups, to Ireland, England, Scotland, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, The Maritimes, Mexico and Canada.
Jane was a lifelong Episcopalian and enjoyed working behind the scenes as well as attending services. She served on the Altar Guild at All Saints, the Vestry, and the Building Committee at St. Paul’s, and the Diocesan Standing Committee. As much as mom enjoyed traveling and her Church work, her greatest joy was her grandchildren Lacy Jane Campbell and Christopher Joseph Farnworth, putting them both through Judge Memorial Catholic High School, and taking them on numerous trips.
Jane is survived by her daughters Cynthia Burdick (College Station, Texas), Liz (Greg) Reighard (Salt Lake City, UT), and her grandchildren Lacy (Chris Carter) Campbell (Portland, OR), and Christopher (Meggan Fenton) Farnworth (Salt Lake City, UT). Preceded in death by her parents John and Anne Teufel.
Our family would like to thank Highland Cove Assisted Living, and Tender Care Hospice for their loving support throughout. A memorial service will be held at a later date when all the family can be present.
