Obituary for John David Galbraith

John David Galbraith, Sr. of Palos Verdes, California, passed away at the age of 65 in his home in South Jordan, Utah, on Friday, August 4, 2017. John was born on January 17, 1952, in Los Angeles, California to Robert and Helen Galbraith. He married the love of his life Janice Harrison Galbraith on November 30, 1979, in Los Angeles. He attended San Diego State University and later attended Brigham Young University where he received a Masters Degree in Public Health. He lived most of his life in Palos Verdes, California, and loved the ocean. John was a real estate broker and entrepreneur, but his most important job was as a father to his five children. As an active member of the LDS Church, John’s favorites callings were those teaching the youth. John loved surfing, baseball, working in the yard, making people laugh, and spending time with his family. In November 2000, John was diagnosed with stage IV melanoma, and was given three months to live. Thanks to many miracles and strength, John lived almost 17 years after that diagnosis and never had a relapse of cancer. His family was truly blessed to have him with them for so many years. John is survived by his wife Jan; his five children: Sarah (Josh) Freeman, Johnny (Joanna), Caitlin (Bobby) Wright, Will (Kaya), and Jake (Britany); his brothers Bruce and Rob; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 9th, at 11:00 am, at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 S. Jordan Pkwy., South Jordan, Utah. A viewing from 10-10:50 am prior to the services.
