Obituary for Jon Roger Rosenlof

Jon Roger Rosenlof, age 83, passed away early Monday morning, January 29, 2018 in his home with all his children nearby. He was a loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, uncle, and friend to whoever he met.

Jon was born in Billings, Montana on October 23, 1934 to Kenneth Eugene Rosenlof and Flo Ross Rosenlof. He was the 3rd of 4 children. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Rosenlof and sister Janet Rosenlof Bernhisel. The youngest sibling, Wayne Rosenlof resides in West Lynn, Oregon.

Although he was born in Montana, Jon’s family moved him to Portland, Oregon as a baby and stayed through his childhood. He graduated from Grant High School in 1952 and attended BYU the following year. After completing his Freshman year Jon joined the army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. Jon fell in love with the country, food, and people. This would become a big part of his life. After completing his time in the Army, he moved back with his family in Portland, Oregon where he met the love of his life Marilyn Wagstaff. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on Sept 4th, 1957. Jon and Marilyn soon started their family with daughter Kristen Rosenlof Salvesen then Daughter Dana Lee Rosenlof Graff, and son Jon Scott Rosenlof. Over the years there has been many grandchildren and great grandchildren added to the family. This was a great source of pride to dad until the very end.

Jon was a CPA for over 40 years and was very active in his community of Santa Maria, CA where the family settled in 1974 and remained until 2017. He served in varies positions in the LDS church but will always remembered as “Bishop Rosenlof.” He served as bishop 2 different times culminating in many years influencing countless lives. No one knows how many how many youths he helped through college, or how many missionaries he helped support. He truly lived “I’ve been given much so I too must give.”

Jon is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and their children, Kris, Dana, and Scott. And by the many grandkids and great-grandchildren that were lucky to call him Grandpa. We want to give a special thanks to Beehive Homes of West Jordan for the love and care they showed our dad for the last months of his life.
