Obituary for Keith Allan Dover

Keith Allan Dover passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2018 at the age of 72, a few days shy of his 73rd birthday. He was an exceptional man whose quiet fortitude and unending heart of charity will be greatly missed. Keith was born in Maxton, NC on July 5, 1945, to Lucy Swofford and Keith Dover, on an army base at the tail end of World War 2. Keith grew up in California an only child and the pride and joy of his parents. He served a mission for the LDS Church in the Great Lakes Mission. He was sealed to Marlena DeMille Moran in the Los Angeles Temple on September 7, 1968 and was planning their 50th wedding anniversary this fall. Together they raised 5 children and have 15 grandchildren. Keith served in the United States Marine Corps from 1970 to 1976 during the Vietnam War. Keith graduated from The University of California’s School of Architecture and worked as an architect in Los Angeles for 40 years and then in Utah for a few before retiring in South Jordan, UT. Keith was constantly creating art with his hands as he worked in his garden, landscaped his yard and consistently had a project to work on in his house. Keith remodeled and added on to his South Jordan home and saw beauty in everything from wild flowers to the practical lines of wood grain. Keith served in many capacities within the LDS Church, including a Church Service Mission with his wife in the Addiction Recovery Program. Keith currently was serving in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple as an ordinance worker. There was never a volunteer, or church service opportunity that Keith would turn down, he unceasingly signed up for every chance to help his fellow friend, neighbor or family member. Keith taught his children the value of hard work and the spirit of charity and the meaning of what it meant to embody the “true love of Christ”. Keith was a quiet man, who showed his love had no bounds by the lengths he went to, serving and helping those around him. Keith was uncomfortable doing anything for himself and always put his family first. Keith was capable and handy and lived by the principle of doing everything himself and it seemed there was nothing he couldn’t fix or build. Keith loved spending time with his grandchildren and always got right down on the floor with them building and playing pretend with them. Keith’s passing will leave a hole in the lives of his family and his ward and those he served.

Keith is survived by his wife Marlena Demille Dover; their five children: Clay (Rebecca) Dover; Kristina (Thaddeus) Blake; Adam (Donalin) Dover; Delana (James) Harr; Laura (Peter) Ford, and their fifteen grandchildren.
