Obituary for Keith Lyle Dayley

Our beloved husband, father, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa, Keith Lyle Dayley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8th from conditions due to age. He was surrounded by his wife and children singing their family song ‘Carry On’ as he left this life and moved on to the next.

Keith was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho. Although he later moved to Miami Florida, Irvine California, Las Vegas Nevada, and South Jordan Utah, his love for Idaho remained strong.

He served in the Army – occupying Japan at the end of WWII. He also served an LDS mission to Australia.

He married his sweetheart, Betty Jean Davis, on November 30, 1951 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They spent nearly 66 years together! They had 6 children – two of which died soon after birth.

Keith was active in Scouting for many years, earning the Silver Beaver award. He was also active in the LDS Church, serving in various positions, including Gospel Doctrine Teacher, High Priest Group Leader, and 8 years as a Bishop.

Through his life, Keith was involved in business, starting with a part ownership in Paramount Cleaners, a dry-cleaning company. Thereafter, he entered the life insurance business as a general agent for Franklin Life and later an Executive Sales Director for American Bankers Life. In 1979, Keith joined founder Jack Walsh and Money Concepts, where he helped build the company from scratch, into a firm that now has more than 650 offices nationwide. He was the Executive Vice President of that firm when he retired in 1998.

One of his greatest legacies will be the Family History work he did. He wrote Life History books about his family and ancestors and gave them to all of his children and grandchildren!

Keith is survived by his wife, Betty Dayley, and four children – Susan Pulsipher (David), Barry Dayley (Bree), Lesa Reid (David), and Kurtis Dayley (Laura), and three brothers – Kent Dayley, Bern Dayley (Margie), and Gerald Dayley (Sharon). He was preceded in death by his mother and father (Bessie & Lyle Dayley), his brother (Don), and his two babies (Kevin & Connie Dayley).

Keith will be greatly missed, but will forever be remembered for his big voice and positive, cheerful personality. His famous saying was “I’ve Never been better in my Life!”.

A viewing will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at the Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home at 1007 S Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan, UT. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10 A.M. at the LDS River Ridge 8th Ward Chapel, 1409 W Shields Ln, South Jordan, UT, where friends and family may call one hour prior to services.
