Margaret Fisher Ostlund Obituary (1935 - 2018)

Margaret Fisher Ostlund died peacefully at home on August 13, 2018. She was born in Heber, Utah on August 14, 1935 to Craig Chambers and Mabel Alder Fisher. She loved telling stories about growing up in the Heber Valley and her experiences on the family farm. Margaret married Brian Best in 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had three children: Steven (Donna) Best; Susan (Andy) Baggs; and Kaye Lynn (Barry) Wootton. They were later divorced. Margaret married Bert Ostlund on December 28, 1984 and welcomed into her family his seven children: Linda (Eric) Barton, Mark (Dorothy); Brent, deceased(Donna); Jamie; Parris; Craig; and Matthew (Paige). Nothing meant more to her than time spent with family. Holidays, vacations, and family activities have provided children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with countless cherished memories of time spent with Grandma Maggie. She earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees from Brigham Young University and later earned her Ph.D. from UCLA, all in education. She was a professor in the BYU education department until her retirement in 2008. Margaret was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many positions including Relief Society President, Young Women’s President and Primary President. She loved the many years spent recently as the ward Gospel Doctrine teacher. Margaret loved her service as a temple worker in the Mount Timpanogas and Jordan River temples and following Bert’s death in 2014, served a temple mission in the Missouri Temple. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the River Ridge North Chapel at 1244 W. Chavez Dr., South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2018 at the chapel and preceding the funeral from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Heber City cemetery.
