Obituary for Miles Lund

Salt Lake City, UT-Miles J. Lund, 84, passed away March 10, 2018 of complications related to diabetes. Born in Salt Lake City on March 22, 1933 to DeWitt LeVar and Florence Rose Miles Lund. Miles graduated from East High School in 1951. He was called up for active military duty on July 7, 1953 and served in the United States Marine Corps until 1961, including serving during the Korean War. He married Sallie Meyer on December 30, 1958, they later divorced. Miles was self-employed as a construction worker and spent his working life building up Utah. Upon retirement he found his passion in gardening. He spent many summers planting, caring for, and harvesting his fruits and vegetables. Miles was preceded in death by: his parents, his brother LaMar, his twin sister Millie Maestas, and his brother in law Donald Sonntag. He is survived by: his children Scott (Jenny) Lund, Tammy (Brian) Pett, Stephen (Sharlee) Lund, brother Kenneth (Nancy) Lund, sister Juanita Sonntag, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at The William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home, Brighton Hospice, and the Salt Lake VA Health Care System for their outstanding care.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 20 at 11:00 AM at The Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 South, Camp Williams Road. Friends may call Monday, March 19 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Funeral Home, 1007 West South Jordan Parkway(10600 S.).
