Obituary for N. Brent Wassmer

N Brent Wassmer, age 74 passed away surrounded by his family on Februrary 25, 2018 at Intermountain Hospital in Murray, Utah.
Born May 9, 1943 in Salt Lake City, UT, son of Donald Albert and Maureen Hansen Wassmer. Brent married Linda Jean Walton on October 7, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. After Linda’s passing in 2002, Brent married Margie H. Kunz April 29, 2006. This union was also solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Brent was a man of many and varied interests, yet all his time and resources were used in such a way as to help and support his family. He enjoyed fishing, camping, skiing and boating but engaged in these activities only to help forge the eternal relationship he had with each member of his family. He placed a premium on creating memories for his children and grandchildren and his family fondly recall family cross country road trips and other vacations. He also loved music and sang bass in many choirs. He truly enjoyed having the family around the piano singing together.
Brent had a mind for engineering and thrived on having a project to keep his mind and hands busy. He was educated at Granite High School and graduated with a degree in engineering from Utah State University. Due to his innate drive for perfection and creative mind, varied career contributions included working on the minuteman missile guidance system and the development of high fructose corn syrup. He worked as a chemist for Clinton Corn in Clinton, Iowa, the manager over process control engineering for Ore-Ida Foods in Ontario, Oregon and for Rust Automation & Controls in West Jordan, Utah.
Brent was a life-long, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and magnified each of the many callings that came to him in his life. He especially regarded the time he spent with Margie in the California Long Beach Mission as one of his most memorable callings.
He is fondly remembered by family and friends for his infectious laugh and his signature hat.
Brent is survived by wife, Margie H. Wassmer; Children Kimberly (Darin) Walker, Kerry Ann Bradshaw, Kyle Brent (Jeanelle) Wassmer, Kelly M. (Matthew) Kerns, Kevin D. Wassmer, Shauntel (Mike) Black, Chandra (Nate) Draxler, Neesha Killpack, and Tyson T. (Jaqline) Kunz along with 20 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; brothers Marvin Donald (Elaine) Wassmer , and Gary Bryan (June) Wassmer.
