Obituary for Nathan Andrew Smith

Nathan Smith, our loving son, brother, and grandson, returned home to his Heavenly Father on July 30, 2018. He passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Nathan was born on June 23, 1998 to Andrew and Becky Smith in Logan, Utah. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Boston, Massachusetts where they were blessed with many friends that cared for them. At the age of 6 months, Nathan developed a seizure disorder that affected him his entire life. He was blessed throughout his life by doctors, teachers, and therapists that helped him grow.

The family returned to Utah when Nathan was 5 and have been blessed by family and friends that touched their lives.

Nathan was always happy. He loved Cheerios, Elmo, music, school, and his family and friends. He always had a smile, unless the wind was blowing on him, and he loved to tease his brothers and sisters.

Nathan attended Kauri Sue Hamilton School and the LDS Seminary there. Nathan was an LDS Seminary graduate through their special needs program.

Though Nathan did not speak with words, his spirit touched many lives.

Nathan is survived by his parents, Andrew and Becky Smith, and his four younger siblings: Alex, Josh, Ryan, and Savannah. He is also survived by his grandparents, Paul and Marilyn Smith of Murray, Utah, and Ron and Margaret Nelson of Riverton, Utah, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nathan is preceded in death by his cousin, Katherine Nelson.

Our family would like to thank the teachers and staff at Kauri Sue Hamilton School, along with his doctors and therapists in Massachusetts and Utah. Nathan loved you all.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the West Jordan River 6th Ward, 7380 South 1300 West. Viewings will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church and Saturday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment: Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
