Obituary for Ronald Frederick Gee

Ronald Frederick Gee, 84, passed away on February 28, 2018 in Millcreek, Utah. He was born on June 5, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah—son of Sidney Victor and Annie Eugenie Candland Gee. He attended schools in Salt Lake City and graduated from Granite High School. He married Donna Bowen and later divorced. Ron married Diana M. Steele on April 7, 1978 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Diana; his six children: Ronda (Phil), James (Carol), Todd (Lori), Marcella, Anngie (Vern) and Donald (Linda); 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Duane; and sister-in-law, Gay. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret; brother, Victor; and many nieces and nephews.
Ron loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many ward and stake callings, including missionary in the Washington D.C. Temple with Diana. Ron loved to travel and he and Diana made many trips that were Ron’s greatest memories. They were able to attend 72 temples of the 140 in operation at that time.
Ron served in the Army during the Korean War, and following his discharge became a member of the Reserve where he served for 20 years, retiring as Master Sergeant in 1975.
Ron was industrious and worked hard in all that he did. As a young man, he planted gladiolas in the Spring and pulled, cleaned and stored them in the Fall. He worked six days a week. Ron worked for the Utah Department of Transportation and on the project that completed Interstate 80 from coast to coast in 1986. Ron also loved trains. He was able to make multiple trips on trains during his lifetime in areas across the United States. He also loved putting together trains and village scenes (mostly Dickens Villages) that are still on display.
