Obituary for Teresa Beth Mower Thompson

Teresa Thompson was born Teresa Beth Mower on October 12, 1979 to Joseph Craig and Dixie Lynne (Royce) Mower in Redlands, California and resided in Highland, California until she was almost two years old. Her family then moved to Prattville near Montgomery, Alabama for a year until her father’s Air Force assignment took them to Ramstein Air Base near Kaiserslautern, West Germany. For part of their tour there, they lived in a small resort-like German community named Waldleiningen where they learned many local German customs. While there, she and her family were able to travel and see many parts of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. In 1985, they moved to Springfield, Virginia for an assignment at the Pentagon, Washington DC. This was followed by assignments in Dayton, Ohio; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where they lived in Marlton, New Jersey; and finally, Ogden, Utah in 1996.

Raised in a strong LDS family, Teresa met a missionary while living in Marlton who would later become her husband on August 19, 1999. Teresa graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in secondary education. After Jared’s graduation in 2002 her family lived in Irvine, California; Riverton, Utah; Meridian, Idaho; and Pittstown, New Jersey before finally choosing Bentonville, Arkansas in 2010 to begin establishing family roots. In Idaho, Teresa gave birth to Peyton James Thompson and miraculously overcame a very rare auto-immune disease called lactation optic neuritis, which had caused her to go blind in both eyes. Fortunately, with the proper treatment, she recovered almost 100% of her vision. In Arkansas, Teresa was soon instrumental in helping to run the family businesses since 2012 by doing a variety of administrative tasks for their 3 BBQ restaurants, a window cleaning company, and their business brokerage office.

A very talented concert pianist, Teresa applied her musical passion by becoming a private piano instructor and by performing for many local church and community events wherever she lived. She had a gift for aesthetics, also applying her talents to interior decorating, floral arrangement, and graphic design. Though self-taught, she became the primary creator of LDS public relations and event materials for a multi-stake region in Bentonville, Arkansas. She served faithfully in the LDS church her entire life as a dedicated visiting teacher and as one who made significant contributions to the primary and young women’s programs in her area. She loved music, animals, gardening, deal-finding, Thai food, roller coasters, ice cream, and snuggles. There was never a more caring and loving mother than Teresa.

Teresa Thompson passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, June 26th at her home in Bentonville, Arkansas where she lived with her husband, Jared (41), and her son, Peyton (13). Teresa is also survived by her father Joseph (Chris) Mower, brothers Joseph (Lynette) Mower and Joshua (Cami) Mower, and sisters Sarah (Todd) Thatcher, Lisa Mower, and Bekki Mower, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6th at 11:00 AM at the LDS church meetinghouse located at 2080 Donelson Ln., Salt Lake City, UT 84117. The viewing will begin at 10:00 AM in the same building. She will be buried in the South Jordan, Utah Cemetery.

An additional memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on July 12th at the LDS meetinghouse located at 1 Lambeth Dr., Bella Vista, AR 72714.
