Viola Beth Egbert Obituary (1926 - 2017)

Today the Matriarch of our family, our dear Mother, Viola Beth Egbert, 91 years young returned home to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ, in the wee hours of the morning. She has 11 children, 46 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way. What a legacy she has. What a reunion she is having on the other side of the veil with her family. I know families can be together forever. We are grateful for her life and example to us, for her love of her Father in Heaven and the Savior Jesus Christ, family, the gospel, family history work, and reading books. She loved the beauties of the earth. She was also a great artist. She loved to be in the water floating the river, running the Colorado River, camping, fishing, and swimming with the sharks in the ocean. She was a great cook; she would wring a chicken’s neck, pluck a chicken cut it up and cook it for dinner. She was a tough old bird. She was a maker of homemade bread, strawberry cream pie, applesauce cookies, cinnamon rolls and many other things. She was the master of storytelling, which was passed down from her mother. She loved being a mother and a homemaker, which was always important to her. Mom loved her water aerobics with her dear friends, singing and telling funny stories to her kids growing up and then to her grandchildren. She and Dad served an LDS Mission together in the Halifax Nova Scotia Mission. In her later years she enjoyed traveling and taking in the cultures of several different countries from South America to China. Mom had a strong testimony of prayer and tithing. She insisted that her tithing was always paid even up to the time of her passing. She saw a lot in her 91 years, from outhouses to running water. She led a long and full life filled with lots of adventures, and love. She was strong and endured her trials with strength and dignity. We will miss you greatly, but are happy that you are in a better place.You will be loved and missed by everyone "Spike"! We love you Mom. See you on the other side. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 12, 2017 at the Quail Ridge Ward, 12110 South 1300 West, Riverton, UT at 11:00 am. Viewings will be Friday, August 11, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S), South Jordan, UT and on Saturday from 10:00 – 10:45 am prior to the service at the church. Interment at Riverton City Cemetery, 1500 West 13200 South, Riverton, UT.
