Alan F. Coston Obituary (1948 - 2010)

Alan died suddenly surrounded by his loving family in Murray, UT. He was born in Canandaigua, N.Y. He worked in the coal mine in Colorado for 10 years. He then moved to Arizona where he met and married his soul mate, Laurie Beatie. They enjoyed 22 wonderful years together. For over 22 years Alan worked at the Gilbert, AZ Street Department. He worked very hard at his job to support his family. He moved to Utah in December 2009 in order to go fishing and retire in the snow. Alan was a proud Marine and served during Vietnam. Alan was an avid weight lifter and loved the outdoors. His pride and joy, however, was spending time with his son, Dylan. Although he could not get Dylan to weight lift, they were joined at the hip. They did everything together—you could always find them at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore or the library. Family time meant a great deal to Alan and he spent as much time as he could enjoying life with them. Survived by his loving wife, Laurie; son, Dylan; brother, Richard and his family; family members in N.Y.; two step-daughters, Cherri and Kim; two grandchildren, Brandon and Allison.Graveside services will be Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 at 12 Noon at Murray City Cemetery, 5600 S. Vine St. A viewing for friends and family will be Thursday from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Riverside 1st Ward located at 5425 Allendale Dr. (600 W) in Murray.In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted by the family to help with funeral costs.
