Albert (Al) Roy Olofson Obituary (1938 - 2012)

“I’ll Fly Away”Al passed away December 15, 2012 at age 73 of gastroesophageal cancer. He was born in Murray, Utah to Roy E. and Thelma Peck Olofson on December 23, 1938.He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, of 48 years; son, Alex; brother, Roy; sisters, Nancy and Marsha; and niece, Traci.Al attended the U of U, graduated from Utah trade Tech, Radio Institute and SLCC.He worked at SLCC, Chicago Bridge and Iron, Kennecott Copper and Sears.Al served honorably as a Sergeant in the Army 19th Special Forces NG and the 945th Troop Carrier Squadron Air Force Reserves.Al’s favorite things: dinner with family and friends, fishing, camping, John Wayne movies and Monterey Bay, CA.Al will be remembered for being a devoted husband, loving father, brother, talented artist and a hard working dependable employee.Thanks to the family, neighbors, friends and the people at St. Mark’s Hospital.Services will be held at a later date.“Salvation comes by God’s grace through faith alone.”
