Annette Clawson Obituary (1932 - 2017)

Our sweet and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother returned to her heavenly home on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the age of 85. Rita Annette Walker Clawson was born April 11, 1932 in Pocatello, Idaho to Melvin Hyrum Walker and Cassie Ann Jensen Walker. She lived in Pocatello until 1979 when she and her family moved to Salt Lake City. She always considered Pocatello her home. She married John Alma Clawson in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 1, 1951. Annette was very creative. She was active in community and church theater groups and was known for the beautiful scenery she painted. She was active in civic affairs and offered much to her community. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in many callings. She was a wonderful visiting teacher. She blessed many with her cards, letters, phone calls and visits. She loved to read, history being her favorite, and shared what she learned with others. This made her a great and fun travel companion. She loved beautiful things and surrounded herself with the beauties of nature. Being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother were her greatest joy. She had an adventurous spirit, which made life fun, not only for her children but also for her friends and family. She served faithfully and without complaint alongside her husband—always with her beautiful smile and that twinkle in her eye. She and her husband served an LDS church mission in the England London Mission, a place she had learned to love through her books. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved her Savior and lived a Christ centered life. Annette is survived by her 6 children, John Alma Jr. (Ann) Clawson, Rebecca (Richard) Pincock, Jane (Craig) Munson, Cynthia (Kirk) Davies, Elizabeth (Adonis) Nielson, Chris Clawson; 27 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Camille Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters; and a great-granddaughter. The family would like to thank Legacy House of Taylorsville and Tender Care Home Health and Hospice for their kind and attentive care. A viewing will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 6-8 PM. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 S. State Street, Murray, Utah. Family will receive friends Tuesday, October 24th from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Little Cottonwood 1st Ward, 6350 S. Rodeo Lane, Murray, Utah. A celebration of Annette’s life will follow at 11:00 AM.
