Arthur P Nowlin Obituary (2014) - South Jordan, Utah

Arthur was born in Renton, WA to Sarah Penny and Arthur Bryce Nowlin. He married the love of his life, Debra Lynne Robertson, on February 28, 1987. He graduated from Queen Anne High School and went on to receive an Associate of Arts degree in accounting. Art grew up in the state of Washington, moved to Oregon (where his daughter Jennifer was born) and later moved to Salt Lake City, UT and then West Jordan, UT. Art worked for the Union Pacific Railroad first as a yardman counting trains, then in the office counting hours for payroll for a number of years. He then moved to a customer service role for Fidelity Investments, where he worked until his physical health would no longer allow him. Art was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was called to serve many times. He had a love of computers, movies (especially science fiction), and reading both science fiction and mystery novels. Many neighbors will remember Art walking to the Shell station reading. Many thought he was going to walk into signs or out into the street. He had an uncanny ability to miss everything in his path and keep on reading. He is survived by his wife Debra, sister Barbara Nowlin (married to John Pierszalowski), brother Brad Nowlin, daughter Jennifer (Ron) Rowley, son Brice Nowlin, stepdaughter Jennifer (Jake) Nelson, granddaughter Koda Nelson, and several furry grandchildren (Scat Cat, Nelson, Rex, Maya, Marley, Chloe, Jellybean, Jack, Cheyenne, Molly, & Lily). He is preceded in death by his mother Sarah and father Arthur. A viewing is being held from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapels & Cremation Center's South Jordan location (1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, UT 84095). A graveside service will follow at about 3:00 PM at Redwood Memorial Mortuary & Cemetery (6500 S. Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT 84123).
