Beth Marie Bills DaRonch Obituary (1926 - 2007)

“OUR MOM” Beth Marie Bills DaRonch, 81, passed away peacefully with her daughter Carol by her side, on April 27, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mom was born March 28, 1926 in Riverton, Utah to Cyrus and Marie Vernice Densley Bills. She was raised in Riverton and attended schools there. She graduated from Jordan High in 1944. She worked as a secretary at Kearns Army Air Base in during World War II. She worked at McDonald Chocolates for many years and kept in touch with friends she made there. Mom married Dad, Frank DaRonch, on June 30, 1950 in West Jordan, Utah at Pioneer Hall. They were married for 54 years at Dad’s passing. They built their own home on a corner of Grandpa DaRonch’s property where they raised us children and lived the rest of their lives. Mom liked to garden. She and Dad had a big garden where they grew vegetables. She sold cantaloupes and cucumbers from the front yard. She would send us down in Hidden Village every October, with our red wagon filled with pumpkins to sell for Halloween. Mom also liked to grow flowers and was often found outside weeding her peonies and pruning her roses. She had a garden of iris’ and many geraniums around the yard. They always filled the utility room window during the winter. She took us every Memorial Day with iris’ and snowballs arranged in pots to place on relative’s graves. Mom was a compassionate person. She liked to talk to people and find out about their life. She did many things for others. Taking clothing and furniture to others, volunteering for the Heart Fund, and many things unsaid. She picked up an elderly woman that was walking to Murray one day and continued to help her until the woman passed away years later. Mom was devoted to her parents. She always spoke very highly of them. She always went to the rest home to feed Grandpa Bills breakfast and often helped others in there also. Mom would make a point to pick up her grandchildren and take them out to Grandma Bills’ to visit and take her to the grocery store. Mom was fun and had a good sense of humor. We had a 58 Chevy that had a 400 hp engine and we would tell her to go fast and she would “gun-it” and it sounded so cool. When a fire truck went past, we all piled in the car to go see what was going on. She always liked to decorate for holidays. We had every color of flocked Christmas tree possible. She even enjoyed her last Christmas at Millcreek Retirement. She enjoyed taking the grandkids to breakfast so they could see the ducks in the pond. She laughed a lot and liked to tell knock-knock jokes to the grandkids. Mom was a good mom, grandmother, and homemaker. She was always there when we came home from school. She had dinner on the table every night at 5 o’clock. She canned fruit, washed our clothes, baked cookies and let us have a dog. She was always there to run us to the school, swimming pool, park or movies. She talked to our friends and new about them. She let us be creative even if it meant having the bathroom cupboards painted black. She wasn’t very brave but she did take swimming lessons at the YMCA. Well, mom, you don’t have to swim in heaven. She always made sure we minded dad. She always stood by what he decided. She took care of Dad during all the years he had MS. We know you were very tired in the end and we understand. Thank you for all your love and sacrifice. We love you Mom, Jan, Carol and Frank. Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her parents Cyrus and Marie Bills, two brothers, Darwin and Bud. She is survived by her three children, Jan (Dwight) Jensen of Boise, ID, Carol Lewis of Holladay, UT, Frank DaRonch of Millcreek, WA and 5 grandchildren, Levi Lewis, Jared and Eric Jensen, Alysia (Bergette), Ssgt. Shane Jensen serving in Fallujah, Iraq and great grandson Connor Bergette and her sister Opal Carpenter of Kearns, UT. At Mom’s request, no viewing or services were held. The family met graveside for a private memorial and grave dedication.
