Beth Marie Crandall Butler Obituary (1924 - 2017)

1924 ~ 2017 Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Friend - Beth Butler passed away on December 14, 2017. She was 93 years of age. She was the daughter of Merrill F. Crandall and Marie Stewart Crandall and was born on May 30, 1924 in Orem, Utah. She married Wm. Carl Butler in 1947. She graduated from Lincoln High School and Brigham Young University. She was raised and worked on the family fruit farm, Crandall Brothers Orchards, in Orem. She worked as a social worker for the LDS Church, as a professional Girl Scout, an auto parts runner, Rosie the Riveter at Hill Field during World War II, and a gift counter worker at the DUP Museum. As a descendant of the first pioneer company, she was involved in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a life-long Girl Scout, and sang with the Sweet Adelines. She was a member of the LDS church. She loved the farm, friends, book club, sewing club, singing, rock collecting, gardening, bird watching, camping, and her side of Timpanogos. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; brother, Stewart Crandall; and great-grandson, Enoch Dalton. She is survived by her children: Christon C (Donna), Caralin (Rick) Dalton, and Lori (Lyle) Gillman; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Jean Crandall. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, Murray. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 19, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour before the service on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
