Obituary for Brent C. Alder

1944 ~ 2018

Brent C. Alder, 74, died November 28, 2018 after a long illness. Brent was born in Heber, Utah to Hugh C. and Beulah Alder. Brent married Linda Bowen in 1978, and he enjoyed being married to his sweetheart for 40 years. Brent was devoted to his family and friends. We are all better people to have been in his life. He was charming in personality and had the tenderest heart. He will be dearly missed.

Brent grew up in Murray, Utah and graduated from Murray High School in 1962. He attended BYU and was a lifelong fan. He served a mission to the Northwestern States for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a successful missionary and loved teaching people about the Church.

When Brent met Linda, he knew he had met his perfect match. Together they united our families. We spent countless hours playing games, camping, and vacationing together. He was happiest when the whole family got together for Sunday dinner with kids running around and everyone eating good food. His hobby was his family.

Brent's career in construction started at a young age, working alongside his dad, learning every aspect of the trade. He helped building projects around Utah that have stood the test of time. He enjoyed working with his hands. He was a hard worker with integrity, and he loved the sense of accomplishment when a job was done, no matter how big or small the project. Brent loved bowling and was in several leagues. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He was also a big basketball and baseball fan, playing when he was a young man and as a spectator. He made lifelong friends enjoying these hobbies.

Brent is survived by his loving wife, Linda Bowen Alder, his children: April (Jonathan) Metcalf, Marnie (Mark) Lansdown, Jon B. Alder, Julie (Cody) Buckalew; and six grandchildren: Oscar Metcalf, Kayli Stalker, Emma Lansdown, Ellie Lansdown, Jaxon Stalker, and Drew Buckalew. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his son, Ty Wilson.

A viewing will be held Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral will take place Monday, December 3rd at 1:30 pm, with viewing from at 12:30-1:15 pm. All services will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, 4760 S. State Street in Murray. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
