Britta Kerstin Gilmore Barney Obituary (1973 - 2017)

1973 ~ 2017 Act II- Bravo! Curtain going up on Act III….. Britta Kerstin Gilmore Barney's valiant battle with aggressive cancer came to a peaceful end, with her husband, Gavin at her side, early in the morning of Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Diagnosed with a rare malignancy 9 months ago, Britta pursued the many arduous treatments with passionate resolve born of devotion to her husband, two-year-old daughter, Sophia Jane, and her loving siblings and parents. With the miraculous help and support of family and friends, she sought and happily endured the many discomforts from the best possible therapies, and the pains from the cancer itself. When Britta knew she had fought the good fight and nothing more could be done, she accepted the invitation to come home with peaceful anticipation. Britta was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, July 11, 1973, the first of four children to bless the marriage of Scott Clayton Gilmore and Gloria Thomas (Gilmore) Hunt. In 1997, Britta married Gavin John Barney for time and all eternity in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Two years ago, Britta and Gavin felt Heaven's clear direction to adopt their precious infant, Sophia Jane Barney; and Sophie immediately became the adored center of their universe. For Britta, family is everything! It has been said "Britta is the glue that holds our family together!" "She has blessed all of us, in all of the generations connected to her." Before, during, and after her illness, she was the shining example of love, kindness, patience, listening, nurturing, and warm friendliness to everyone. She has always sought the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and has obeyed quickly when inspiration comes. This sensitivity and strength will continue to bless all of our lives. Her last days were full of love and contentment, surrounded by caring family, filled with the inspiration, and the peace that she had finished her course, and kept the faith. She will continue to minister to her precious Sophie and Gavin until she welcomes them Home someday. Britta is survived by Gavin; Sophia Jane; her siblings, Nathan (Meagan) Gilmore, Stewart (Jennifer) Gilmore, and Myra (Anthony) Gilmore Payne; as well as her parents, Gloria Thomas Gilmore Hunt and Scott Gilmore, and mother-in-law, Cathryn Kezerian. Aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, …… hundreds will live with greater grace, faith and charity because of Britta's sweet influence in their lives. Funeral Service will be held at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (4032 South 2300 East, Holladay 84124) Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 11 AM to 12 Noon. Viewing will precede the service from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Interment at Logan City Cemetery, Logan at 3:30 PM, Saturday, May 6, 2017.
