Carlene Schlegel Pathakis Obituary (1934 - 2006)

Carlene Schlegel Pathakis, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home with her loved ones near on Sunday, May 21, 2006. Carlene was born in Portland Oregon to Carl and Irene Schlegel. She moved to Salt Lake City in the early 1940’s, graduating from East High School class of 1952. Carlene attended the University of Utah, the University of Nevada and the McCune school of music. She married her high school sweetheart, Ted Pathakis, April 15, 1953. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She was so very proud of her children: Andrea (Ed), Ricky Wayne (deceased), Scott (Lori) and John (Juli). Carlene was a loving and wonderful grandmother to her nine grandchildren and three great grand-children. Carlene enjoyed traveling, especially the inter-mountain west and Europe, and taking pictures of these trips. She loved admiring flowers, birds, and nature. She served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and dearly loved the women she served with. Her favorite calling was playing piano for the primary. Carlene enjoyed the years of friendship with members of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at the Cottonwood Acres Ward, 981 East Revere Circle (5500 South) at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call earlier at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
