Carma Virwis Carter Prows Obituary (1936 - 2016)

Carma Virwis Carter Prows passed away peacefully on August 16, 2016 in Bountiful, Utah, surrounded by her devoted husband and loved ones. She was born April 10, 1936 in Greenville, South Carolina. She attended West High School in Salt Lake City and resided for many years in Salt Lake City, Utah and Boise, Idaho. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served for many years in the Relief Society and Primary organizations. She was a devoted Visiting Teacher. She had a firm and vibrant testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ. She married Joseph Henry Prows Jr. for time and all eternity on February 14, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family. She loved to travel with her husband, had a keen memory for directions and could tell you just how to get to specific locations and restaurants that she enjoyed during their travels. Her home was always open to family and friends. Her children cherish a book of her favorite recipes and the many beautiful paintings that she created and gifted to them. She loved music, reading, cross-word puzzles, watching BSU, BYU and UofU football games, and long chats on the phone with her sisters. She will be remembered for her fun sense of humor, love of her family and faithfulness to the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Sarah Carter; siblings Grace, Myra, LaRue, Jesse, Thomas, and Laura. She is survived by her eternal companion, Joseph Henry Prows Jr.; her children, Lori Heusser (daughter of the heart), Deanna (Wilbert) Palma, Janet (Craig) Clark, Pamela Prows, Joseph Henry (Maria) Prows III and Martin James (Holly) Prows; siblings Mary, Dorothy and Josephine; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; many beloved nephews and nieces in the Prows and Carter families and other extended family. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 22nd at 11am in the Bountiful 36th Ward Chapel, 102 East 1400 South. Friends and family are invited to a viewing Sunday, 6-8pm at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 S State Street in Murray, Utah, and at the church Monday from 9:30-10:30am. Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
