Chad Leland Coates Obituary (1975 - 2018)

Our fabulous husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and friend passed away July 19, 2018. Born April 16, 1975 in Salt Lake City to Dennis and Shanna Coates. From day one Chad loved sports and the outdoors. Throughout his childhood Chad played all sports but basketball was where he excelled. Graduated from Taylorsville High School where he was a member of the Warrior basketball team. Attended the University of Idaho on a basketball scholarship. Married Kimberly Peterson (Kimmers) June 25, 1999. Chad loved all sports especially his Utah Utes and Utah Jazz, in fact it was hard to find Chad dressed in anything but “Utah” attire. Chad loved hunting, fishing, and being at the Ranch. Chad was a fantastic cook. Tailgating will never be the same. He was the cornhole champion with his wing man Brett. “UTES DAY ALL DAY!” Chad loved his kids Audrey and Beckett and was their biggest fan and supporter. You could find him standing the tallest and yelling the loudest. Survived by his wife Kim, children Audrey and Beckett, parents Dennis and Shanna Coates, siblings Carl (Marylou), Janette, Ryan (Jodie), in-laws Moyle and Kathy Peterson, and many loved nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Thursday July 26th at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel in South Jordan at 6:00 PM followed by a celebration of life at 7:00 PM. Please wear your Utah gear or red and black. Write down a favorite memory to bring with you which will be a keepsake for his kids. In lieu of flowers an account has been set up at Mountain America Credit Union under Chad Coates Children.
