Christie Nicole Thomas Sumner Obituary (1979 - 2007)

“Gee, I thought the bells came afterward!” Our beautiful and cherished Christie Nicole passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2007, one day before her 28th birthday. Born to Bruce and Jody Thomas on May 22, 1979 in S.L.C., Utah, she spent most of her early years in Riverton before moving with her family to South Jordan. Her school years were filled with straight A’s and many awards; she graduated from Bingham High, Class of 1997, in the top three percent of her class. Christie learned early how to be a dedicated and hard worker, most recently working as a licensed Escrow Officer. In 2004 she married David Sumner (later divorced) and had a beautiful daughter, Savannah Nicole, who became her greatest joy. More than anything in the world, Christie loved being mom to her “Little Princess”. Dearest Christie, words cannot express how much we love and miss you. We miss your beautiful voice, smile, laughter and wit, your tender love for animals, your artistic talents, and your adventurous and independent spirit—even your stubbornness. We will never forget your endless capacity for kindness and giving; you were always thinking of others before yourself. We will remember the strength with which you quietly endured life’s difficult times. Christie, you are absolutely amazing! Thank you for the memories and the lessons you have taught us all. Our world is incomplete without you. You always did love traveling, so we can only imagine the journey you are on now. Until we meet again, Love, Mom and Dad, Susan, Matt, Robert, Jenny, Savannah, your beloved dog Marlon, and all who will miss you dearly. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26th at 12:00 p.m. at the So. Jordan Stake Center, 2450 W. 10400 So. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy.(10600 So.) Interment at Wasatch Lawn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a fund at Zions Bank for Savannah Nicole Sumner.
