Christine Constance Marion Kempees Elliott Obituary (1946 - 2017)

Christine Constance Marion Kempees Elliott passed away on Monday September 4th, 2017 of natural causes. The daughter of immigrants, Herman and Constance Kempees, she spent her childhood in Brooklyn, New York and San Francisco, California, where she was raised alongside 2 sisters, Barb and Kathy and a brother, Johaness. Her biggest dream in life was to be a mother and she brought 10 beautiful children into the world, who she taught kindness, generosity, triumph over tragedy, and the unwavering power of love. She didn’t stop with 10 children, she has numerous “adopted” children the world over who call her mom, think of her as mom, and mourn her as mom. She opened her heart and her home to anyone who needed it. Her seemingly unbounded capacity for love wasn’t just for her children or her work, her 17 grandchildren benefited from it as well. She was the grandma with the sense of humor. The one with the shoulder to cry on. The one was always there in a time of need. With most of her grandchildren now teenagers and adults, she transitioned from favorite playmate and the giver of candy, to the confidant, the burden carrier, the one you could vent to and talk to about all of lives problems. She was the rock and the foundation of her family. She spent 22 years as a NICU Nurse, most of that time with McKay Dee Hospital, where she was awarded numerous awards of distinction for her outstanding performance. Her greatest joy was helping new parents, and new babies get a fighting chance at life. She took immense pride in her work, and in the friendships she build there. To say she will be missed doesn’t seem to do it justice, she leaves behind brokenhearted children, grandchildren, and friends, all of whom will miss her enormous capacity for love and the feeling of comfort and home they got in her presence. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan, and two daughters, Angel and Missy. An active member of the LDS church, we know she is there in their embrace, finally together again. There will be a viewing at 770 15th St, Ogden, UT 84404, the LDS church from 2-4 PM on Friday September 8th, 2017 followed by a service conducted by her sister, Barbara Chapman at Jeremiah’s Restaurant, 1307 W 1200 S, Ogden, UT 84404.
