Cornelia A. Ziemer Obituary (1924 - 2006)

“Connie” “Connie”, as she was known by all, passed away Feb. 25th while hospitalized for injuries suffered in a fall. She was 81 years of age and had been a longtime resident of the Murray area. Born Cornelia Agnes Stout in Buffalo, NY on April 15, 1924, she was one of four children of Lynn F. and Jeanette Warner Stout. After her family settled there, she was principally educated in Virginia, including St. Margaret’s Episcopal School in Tappahannack. On Jan. 29, 1951 she married Charles W. Ziemer Jr., a Buffalo native. He was associated for many years with Cutter Laboratories, was a salesman of winter and ski-wear with Hagemeister-Lert and later was self-employed. Connie was a department store buyer and a fashion model in the East before marriage and afterward became a partner with her husband in his business. The Ziemers moved to Murray in the early 1950s. Later, for a time, they divided their place of residence between there and Fox Island, WA. In 2004, following her husband’s death, she returned to Utah, settling at The Wellington Senior Residence, where she resided at the time of her death. She is survived by nephews Charles W. Batten, Conestoga, PA and David W. Batten, Arlington, VA; a niece, Lynne (Larry) Smith of Chester, VA and a host of friends in Utah and Washington. Connie is remembered for her commitment to animal welfare, was a very generous and giving person and performed needlework with great skill. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at The Wellington, 4522 S. 1300 East. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
