Obituary for Dallas James DeVoogd

Dal Pal,

Our family is crushed.

The thought of no more tomorrows with you is heart breaking. We hope you can feel the abundance of love from all of your family and friends, and from any soul touched by your kindness. Dallas, you were the greatest light, miracle and gift that a family could ever ask for. As the youngest in our family, there is beauty in knowing we were never fully complete until we finally had you.

The way you spread joy and laughter with your contagious smile is like no other. No one else is like you, and no one else can be like you, because you’ve got something they don’t: a heart of gold. Your heart was your tool. We now know that was how you were able to bear the burdens of others – you truly are a superhero. You faced difficult challenges on this earth, but your incredible strength and gentleness made you flourish. Thank you for being a friend to those who needed you and leaving a lasting impression in their hearts.

Dallas, we need you to know you can never be replaced. Like a puzzle, it takes every piece of us to make it whole. Even though there are now missing pieces, we will hold ourselves together around you. You can still see a picture; but your empty spaces will always be felt, and the picture can never be truly complete.

Listen to us, as we never stop singing: “Who’s my buddy? Who’s my pal? Who’s my best friend? …Dal!”

With all our love,

Mom, Dad, Conner, Kamarie and Dylan
DeVoogd Strong
