DeVona Saxton Obituary (1924 - 2014)

3/2/1924-7/5/2014 Emily DeVona Jones Saxton was born in Saint Anthony Idaho on March 2, 1924. She was the second daughter of Alma and Laura Dorcas Reynolds Jones. She attended school in Rigby, Idaho where she was active in the Pepperetts, Yearbook staff and other school organizations. She graduated from Rigby High School in 1942. Upon her high school graduation she moved to Ogden, Utah where she lived for the next 50 years. She worked for 8 years at Hill Air Force in the Personnel Departments. By the age of 26 she had been promoted and was the direct supervisor of 75 employees. She loved her time at Hill Air Force Base and made many lifelong associations. On July 28, 1950 she married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, Dell Edward "Ted" Saxton in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. DeVona and Ted had one daughter, Kathy. Upon her marriage to Ted, they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where DeVona worked as Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. Later, DeVona and Ted returned to Ogden where she began working for the U.S.Forest Service. At the time of her retirement she was the Assistant Regional Personal Manager for the Region. She was also the highest ranking woman at the time in the Intermountain Region. DeVona was active of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints and served in the Young Women's, Primary, and Relief Society Organizations. She had a great love of Genealogy work and served in the Ogden Genealogy Library as Head Film Clerk for 17 years. She often stated that her time of service at the Genealogy Library was one of the highlights of her life. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary located at 4760 South State Street in Murray, viewings will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services.
