Don J. Mitchell Obituary (1921 - 2006)

“Gone Golfing” Don J. Mitchell passed away peacefully on November 6, 2006 due to complications following surgery at the age of 85. He was born in Atascadero, CA to Donald George and Hazel (Mickey) Murphy Mitchell on August 20, 1921. Married Carol Rose; later divorced. Don later married Donnetta Baker. Don enlisted in the Marines and was a disabled veteran, serving during WWII. “Semper Fi” He retired from the Mtn. Bell Telephone Company with 38 years of service. He published two novels: “No Other Way” (2001) and “Corporate Cicada” (2006). Survived by his wife, Donnetta, of 29 years; sister, Donna (Jack) Worden; children, Jim (Sherrie), Bill, Larry (deceased), Richard Mitchell, and Nancy Santos (Elmo); ex-wife, Carol Pavich (John); mother-in-law, Mary Rose; 7 grandchildren, Jon (Christine), Joe Santos, Natalie, Cody, Billy (Susan), Blaine (Amber) Mitchell, Morgen (Travis) Parkinson; 7 great-grandchildren, Josh, Jaimie, and Jenna Santos, Kayden, Kella, Devin, and Braden Mitchell; nephews, David, John (Laura), and Michael Worden. State Street, where friends and family may attend a viewing Sunday, November 12, 2006, from 5-7 p.m. and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
