Dorian Rey Faber, MD Obituary (1931 - 2020)

Dorian Rey Faber, MD, 88, passed away on Saturday, July 11 in South Jordan, Utah. Dorian was born in Lehi, Utah on October 18, 1931, the third child of ten born to Walter Paul and Beatrice Althea Grundvig Faber. Dorian graduated from Granite High School in Salt Lake City. He received his bachelor’s degree from BYU, MD degree from U of U Medical School, and did additional graduate studies in Pathology at UCLA, becoming Board Certified in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology as well as Nuclear Medicine. He practiced both pathology and emergency medicine in California. In Utah, he practiced pathology at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center and Jordan Valley Hospital. Dorian participated in a Volunteer Physician program in Vietnam in 1969. Before his physician training, he served in the Army during the Korean conflict where he received training in Medical Technology and subsequently became ASCP certified as a medical technologist and was employed as such during his University and Medical School training. Dorian married Lila Marie Gonder in 1954 in Garrison, Utah; later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 66, he served three medical missions for the church with his wife in Bulgaria, Australia-New Zealand, and Central United States. He has a strong testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ. He and his wife, Lila, were blessed with three sons, Daniel Rey (Leah), Anthony Christian (Anne), and David Wayne (Melissa). He is survived by his wife, three sons, 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and three brothers. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:00 am at the River 2nd Ward, 1540 West 10400 South, South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. Masks are required. Interment at South Jordan City Cemetery.
