Dorothy J. Peters Obituary (1927 - 2018)

Dorothy was born to Rachel and Adam J . Shaffer in Portland, Oregon. She had two brothers, Donald D. and Richard L. The family moved to Mitchell, Nebraska in 1936. She attended Haig School and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1945. She was a legal secretary for many years. She married Richard B. Hilzer, and they had two children, Pamela K. and Richard B. They were divorced, and she later married Murray H. Peters. They had one daughter, Roxie; they were later divorced. Dorothy did office work most of her life until she retired at age 73. She enjoyed crocheting many comfortable afghans and sweaters. She loved to garden, all yard work, and especially enjoyed being with her family. She was an avid reader and acquired many books and then gave many away. She aspired to be a dress designer and became an excellent seamstress. She made a lot of her and her children's clothing. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Don and Dick. Per her request, no memorial service will be held. She is to be cremated and interred with her parents in Idaho.
