Dorothy Marie Blechert Young Obituary (1924 - 2009)

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all, Dorothy Marie Blechert Young, passed away June 24, 2009. She was born August 8, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Fredrick Otto and Margaret Marie Zimmerman Blechert. She married Clark Wm. Young, Sr.; later divorced. Dorothy was a devoted registered nurse for over 40 years. She was a volunteer for 20 years for the Salt Lake County Aging Services, Senior Companion Program. She was the recipient of the Humana Starlight Award for 2008 for her years of service and dedication. The family shares a special thanks to Dwight and Sheri at the Salt Lake County Aging Services and all the special people of the Community Nursing Services (CNS), especially Dana, Barbara and Camille. “You are our angels.” Dorothy is survived by her children, Clark W. Young, Jr., Carol R. Gainsforth (Bob), Ken Young; six granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Clara King. Preceded in death by seven sisters; one brother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Salt Lake County Aging Services, or Community Nursing Services.
