Dr. Roy Hart Lauritzen Obituary (1924 - 2011)

Our beloved brother, father, and grandfather, 87, passed away on December 15, 2011, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was born June 12, 1924, in Logan, Utah. During the depression he lived with his family in Idaho. He served in and retired from the US Navy. He served during WWII, Korean War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. During his service in the Navy, he learned electronics, signaling and intelligence. He loved to study and continued his education, receiving several degrees. He married Rose M. Lauritizen on April 27, 1964, in Logan, Utah. Together they raised four children: Sandra, Mary Ann, Roy Jr. and Rosie in Salt Lake City, Utah. Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife Rose on March 30, 2010. He is survived by his sister Viola Bosen of Preston, ID; his son Roy Jr. of South Jordan, UT; his daughters Sandra of Wenatchee, WA; Mary Ann of Springville, UT and Rosie of Banning, CA. He also has 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S.), South Jordan, Utah. The viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Thurs. from 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. prior to the services.
