Elaine Thompson Christiansen Obituary (1922 - 2009)

Elaine Thompson Christiansen, our mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on January 18, 2009 at the home of her daughter Arlene in West Jordan, after several years of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Mom was born in Ephraim, Utah to Anna Marie and Joseph Henry Thompson on November 30, 1922. She married Elvin Christiansen on June 5, 1944 in the Manti Temple. She graduated from Ephraim High School and attended Snow College on a music scholarship. Mom dearly loved her family and was always available when anyone needed her help. There was always fudge or ice cream with hot fudge or caramel when family and friends came to visit. Mom was always grateful for her membership in the L.D.S. Church and served faithfully in each of the auxiliaries, throughout her life. Music was important to her. She played her violin in the Messiah at Snow College up to 84 years of age. In her mid-60’s she was Concert Mistress. She taught herself the piano and served as organist in the auxiliaries and also as an organist in the Manti Temple for 11 ½ years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, daughter Colleen, parents and brothers and sisters. She is survived by 5 special and wonderful children: Leslie Hare, Arlene Thomas, Douglas and Norman Christiansen, JoLynne Call, Sister Ruth Langston, 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at the Manti South Stake Center, 295 South Main, Manti, UT, where friends and family are invited to attend a viewing from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Interment, Manti City Cemetery.
