Elisabeth Hedwig Rudin Guenther Obituary (1925 - 2017)

Elisabeth Hedwig (Rudin) Guenther passed away on August 29, 2017. She was born on April 28, 1925 to Johannes (Hans) Rudin and Hedwig Birri in Liestal Basselland, Switzerland. She married Wilhelm Otto Guenther on September 8, 1948 in Pratteln, Basel Country, Switzerland. Elisabeth worked as a Water Purificator at Black Butte Mining Company in Wyoming. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held numerous positions in the Relief Society, Young Womens, Sunday School and Primary. She loved to go to the temple. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was an avid reader and subscribed to the Ensign. Elisabeth enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed genealogy, gardening flowers and vegetables, painting, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and writing in her journals. She enjoyed spending a summer week with the grandchildren in Point of Rocks. She also loved collecting rocks. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Wilfred) Lieber, Wilhelm O. (Dianne) Guenther, Ruth (Ron) Koestel, Mary Heaps, Linda (James) Rasmussen, David (Jessica) Guenther, Colleen (Peter) Ballantine, and Kenneth (Christine) Guenther; 25 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilhelm, and her brothers, Hans Jacob Rudin, Fritz Emil Rudin, Peter Rudin, Werner Heinrich Rudin, and Alex Walter Rudin. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11:00 am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S), South Jordan, Utah with a viewing from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the service. Interment at South Jordan City Cemetery.
