Enid Gay Rust Obituary (1945 - 2012)

Enid went to meet her Savior on March 18, 2012 following a 6 year battle with cancer. She was born in Wichita, Kansas to Samuel and Kathleen Van Gieson on November 13, 1945 and was raised on a farm near Norwich, Kansas.After graduating from Norwich High School she attended Kansas State University and later the University of Missouri Dental School. She met her life-long sweetheart, Dale Rust, in 1960 and they were wed on July 18, 1964 and have been happily married for 48 years.Enid was the epitome of a cheerful and content homemaker. She loved to cook, sew, garden, and care for her husband and children. She also enjoyed running by competing in numerous marathons and races. She was recently inducted into the St. George Marathon Legends Club.Enid loved her church family and was deeply encouraged by their support and love. She had a passion for sharing her life-changing faith in Jesus Christ to everyone she encountered, even in her final days.Enid’s greatest treasure in life besides her Savior, Jesus, was her family. She is greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her husband, Dale Rust, their four children: Paul (& Elaine Rust), Ashley (& Brian Zwahlen), Grant (& Shannon Rust), and Debbie (& Bob Fine), and her 29 beautiful grandchildren who know her simply as “Nana”.Above all else Enid found her joy in knowing and loving Jesus. Her smile and life-giving heart for serving others was nothing short of amazing. She will be forever remembered by the contagious joy she exuded to all of us who were blessed to know her.Please join us for a public memorial service to celebrate the life of Enid on Friday, March 23rd at 3:00 pm. It will be located at Grace Community Bible Church (11592 South 1300 East Sandy, UT 84094). Burial will take place in the Argonia, KS cemetery.
