Everett Grant Eggleston Obituary (1915 - 2006)

Everett Grant Eggleston, 90, passed away August 19, 2006, at the Wentworth at Draper Assisted Living Center, of causes incident to age. He was born September 13, 1915 in Grover, Wyoming to Orson Burgess and Anne Marie Petersen Eggleston. During WWII he served as a radar truck operator in the South Pacific from 1941-1945, serving with US forces from New Guinea to Manila in the Philippines. Grant married Martha Agnes Bell Hughes on August 27, 1952 in Los Angeles, California. He drove trucks for a long time before going to work for a pump manufacturer, which was his last job and the one from which he retired in 1978. Martha died in August 1983. In October 1984 Grant married Gwen Smith; they were later divorced. After retirement, he enjoyed his hobbies of fishing, camping, traveling, and playing horseshoes. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent as many years as he could as an avid temple worker. Survivors are sisters Marie Toburen and Opal Taylor of Cheyenne, WY; stepson Bruce Hughes of Tucson, AZ; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Martha; four sisters and four brothers; stepdaughter Wanda Dodd. The family would like to thank the personnel of Wentworth of Draper, Assisted Living Center and the wonderful caregivers of Hospice of Draper for their care, love, and attendance to Grant these past several months. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 24, at 11:00 am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy. (10600 S) where friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 pm and again from 10-10:45 on Thursday prior to the services. Interment Valley Oaks Memorial Park, Westlake Village, CA.
