Frances Irene Stapley Olson Obituary (1940 - 2006)

Frances Irene Stapley Olson passed away December 6, 2006 in Murray, UT of cardiac arrest after being able to attend her youngest grandson’s baptism. She was born on October 23, 1940 to Irene Russell Stapley and Orley Adams Stapley in Cedar City, Utah. She was married to Fay Leland Olson and later divorced. They were later sealed in the LDS Temple, so that her kids could be sealed to her for eternity. This was very important to her. She was the youngest of thirteen children, and never had the experience of meeting her father. Her father died of a massive heart attack at the age of 45 when her mother was pregnant with her. What a reunion they must be having. They have a lot of catching up to do. There are many relatives she has missed dearly that passed on before her. They include both parents; sisters, Jackie, Thelma, La Reta; and brothers, Merlin, Bob, Rulon, and Kenneth; and step-brother, Lynn East. She leaves behind her children, Kelly Olson, Michelle Dahle, Monica (Valentin) Garcia; sisters, Orlene Evans (Indiana), Lola Fancher (Arkansas), Barbara (Vern) Derhak (West Valley); brothers, Orley Stapley (SLC), Richard Stapley (West Valley); step-sister, Margie Wall; and step-brother, Glen East. Her children, as well as her two grandsons, Matthew and Connor Dahle, were the joys of her life. She was proud of each of their accomplishments. She took so much joy in listening to Matt play songs on the piano, and hearing about all of the highlights in their schooling, scouts, sports, or whatever else was going on at the time. We know that she will still be able to experience all of those things, and more, without the restraints of poor health. She held several church callings throughout her life, with the most recent being a visiting teaching supervisor. She looked forward to, and enjoyed the bi-monthly luncheons with her dear lady friends, and the monthly birthday club. She had many challenges and trials throughout her life, but she did whatever she had to do, and made several sacrifices to make sure that her kids always had what they needed, and never went without. We’re going to miss you Mom. But we know that you’re finally at peace, and are watching over all of us. We love you. God be with you ‘til we meet again. Funeral services will be held at the Ridgecreek Ward, 5735 So. Fashion Blvd. at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2006. Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, and also from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at the church prior to services on Saturday. An additional service will be held on Monday, December 11, 2006 in Washington, Utah at the Cottonmill Ward, 807 West Capilla Street, at 11:00 a.m. where friends and family may call from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow Monday’s services at Cedar City Cemetery.
