Francis Eugene Ashby Obituary (1933 - 2011)

Francis Eugene Ashby was born in Bridgeland, Utah to John Lathum and Mabel Pickup Ashby. He married Barbara Ray Harrison on April 2, 1951; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Barbara passed away January 21, 1995. Married Joyce Timothy Miller on April 10, 1995; later solemnized in the Vernal Temple. Francis developed a love for ceramics; he opened shops in several locations with Barbara. He was a very social man and would help anyone in need. Francis could build, repair or create anything he set his mind to. Survived by four children, Ann Marie (Larry) Kranwinkle; Colleen (Glen) Midgley, Darinda Strong, Richard (Julie) Ashby; six step-children, Shelly, Scott, Holly, Kelly, Heidi and Jill (along with their spouses); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo, Wayne and Evan; and sister, Edith. The family would like to thank Dignity Home Health Care and Hospice—especially Christine, Malinda and Kathy—for their loving care. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Butler 4th Ward located at 6600 S. Greenfield Way (1800 E.) in Salt Lake City. A viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, and Friday from 12-12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment: Mtn. View Memorial Estates, 7800 S. 3115 E., in Salt Lake City.
