Garnet Eldredge Anderson Obituary (1911 - 2007)

“Nann” Garnet was released from her earthly journey on Friday, May 18, 2007 to be reunited with her loved ones who had gone before her. Garnet was born to Leon and Janet Adamson Eldredge on May 15, 1911. She was the eldest of 7 children. She was raised in Cottonwood and attended Granite High School. Garnet married Ernest George Anderson on October 7, 1933 in Cottonwood and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1950 leaving her a widow with two young children to raise. She raised her family in Sugarhouse and was an active member of the Forest Dale Ward. She held a variety of jobs for the UEA; her favorite one was when she was at South High School during the time her children were students at South. Garnet was an active volunteer at the U of U Hospital with over 2200 hours of service. She received the “Mother Theresa Award” for her compassion and service to patients at the hospital. She was an avid square dancer and loved to travel. She had visited most of the states in the United States. Her favorite party each year was having the entire family together at Christmas time in her home. Garnet is survived by her son, Dr. Fred (Frances) Anderson currently serving an LDS mission as Area Medical Advisor for North Asia in Tokyo Japan; daughter, Barbara (Dean) Jenson of Sandy; eight grandchildren; 25 1/2 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters Janet Hanson, Virginia Nelson; devoted niece, MarShan Nelson; brother Don (Edyth) Eldredge; and sister-in-law Miriam Eldredge; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Maxine Eldredge, brothers Milton Eldredge and Grant “Pat” Eldredge. The family would like to thank the staff at Alta Ridge Assisted Living and CareSource Hospice for their loving care of mother. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, where friends and family may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening and Wednesday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Murray City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, 771 E. Winchester, Murray, UT 84107 in Garnet’s name.
