Gerald Gardner, 73

Gerald Allen Gardner, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018.

Gerald was born in Murray, UT on December 29, 1944 to Ross V. Gardner and Dora (Butterfield) and lovingly raised by step-father Lester C. Breeze. Gerald graduated from Granite High School and was sealed to his sweetheart, Jacquelyn D. Schmidt in the Salt Lake City Temple on April 21, 1967.

Gerald had a love of all things beautiful, spending countless hours working in his yard creating gardens that were admired by many. He served friends and family in need, freely sharing his talents. Above all, Gerald was a dedicated husband and father, raising his eight children with his loving wife, Jackie. Instilling in each of his children the importance of service, hard work, faithfulness and compassion through his example.

Gerald was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities over his lifetime. He served in the Southern Australian mission and later served a mission with Jackie in the Washington D.C. temple. Upon completion of their mission, he continued to serve as a sealer in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.

Gerald’s legacy will live on through his wife, eight children, 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Jackie and children, Jill M. Best (Alan), Matthew T. Gardner (DeeDee), Paul A. Gardner (JaNae), Jared B. Gardner (Melissa), Alisha A. Dye (Wayne), Simon L. Gardner (Kristin), Megan A. Brown (Josh) and Brett A. Gardner; his sisters Shirley Cromar, Ann McPhie and Janice Hoppe.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Leon Gardner and Randy Breeze.

A viewing will be held December 6, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan, UT. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Prairie 10th Ward chapel on 7337 South Grizzly Way, West Jordan, UT, with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the service. Interment South Jordan Cemetery.
