Gerri Lee Martin Obituary (1958 - 2010)

Gerri Lee Griffiths Martin, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2010. She was born April 15, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of LeRoy H and Patricia Wilcock Griffiths. She married David R. Martin August 17, 1985. They had an adventurous life together. She was a 1976 graduate of Cottonwood High School and attended the University of Utah, majoring in Fine Art. She was a gifted artist and saw the inner beauty in everything. She had a passion for animals and nature. We fondly remember that her “kids” included guinea pigs, carrier pigeons, turkeys, chickens, a goat, and her beloved golden retrievers. She achieved the rank of Master Gardener, Certified Nursery Professional, was a certified Arborist, and enjoyed a career in the nursery business for 15 years. At the time of her death, she was employed by Comcast and took great pride in her work. Gerri Lee was fiercely loyal and generous to a fault. She was sentimental, patriotic, and always looking out for the underdog. She will be sorely missed. She is survived by her mother; siblings, Cheryl (Dave) Hunter, Abe (Sue) Griffiths, and Debbie (Sean) Handley, and nieces and nephews, Emilee (Danny) Follett, Spencer Hunter, Abe and Ben Griffiths, and Clare Handley; she was preceded in death by her husband, father, and grandparents. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service in the Milford City Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
