Glen James Thorum Obituary (1930 - 2016)

Glen James "Creamy" Thorum, 86, was born to James Orland and Esther Dahl Thorum on Wednesday, January 29, 1930, at 8:30 AM, just in time to go to work; and he loved working hard for the rest of his life. He passed on to his next job mid-morning, June 17, 2016, at his home with family by his side. He didn't take his lunch bucket. Glen attended schools in the Granite School District. When the Korean Conflict started he joined the 191st Air National Guard and served his time at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM. His occupations were auto mechanic, for which we were all thankful as he kept our cars running; ironworker with the Ironworkers Local 27, where he and his crew with Associated Specialties worked on many of the high rise commercial buildings all over Utah; and water master for the Richards Irrigation Company. As a member of the LDS Church, he was a consummate home teacher and that was his most loved calling. Also he enjoyed being Scout Committee Chairman for 18 years. He loved the US flag and made sure it was hung right and respected. Sixty-five years ago Glen met and married Donna Nicholes, who survives him along with their 4 children: Sherman (Claudia Wintch), Dale (Cathy Hopkins), Mary Anne, Tom (Julie Horsley); 9 grandchildren; 13.8 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruth Conlon. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma Giacoma; and brothers, Sherman and Robert Thorum. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at 1:00 PM at the Willow Creek 7th Ward, 2115 East Creek Road (8200 South), with viewings at the church Wednesday evening, June 22, from 6-8 PM and Thursday from 12–12:45 PM.
