Obituary for Gregory Vee West

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Gregory West, age 78, of South Jordan, Utah, passed away peacefully at his home November 23rd, 2018. He had bravely confronted and fought many health conditions for years. He was born April 6, 1940 in Rock Springs, Wyoming but moved to Draper, Utah where he resided for over 60 years. Greg and Gerrie moved to Lynden, Washington where he lived for 15 years. He recently moved back to Utah to reside in South Jordan where he enjoyed living at the Legacy Retirement Residences. Greg graduated from Jordan High School in 1958 and was in the US Air Force prior to being medically discharged.
Greg was an Inventory Analyst for the Utah State Department of Transportation (UDOT) until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the managing board of Magna Gun Club for many years and, after moving to Lynden, he served for several years on the Board for the Fieldstone Community where he lived. Greg loved trap shooting and received many prizes and titles. He also loved hunting, fishing and being out of doors but also loved to watch golf on TV. In Washington, Greg had the opportunity to see many places and do many things, including crabbing, boating, whale watching and being with his family. “He lived a good life and fought a good fight!”
He is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “Gerrie” Brady West of Draper, UT and Lynden, WA and his Grandson Kody Michael West of Salina, UT; Greg is survived by his daughter Michelle West of South Jordan, UT; son Michael “Mike” (Michelle) West of Lynden, WA; daughter Stephannie (Kevin) Davis of South Jordan, UT; grandchildren Shannon, BJ, Justine, Brandee, Samantha and many great-grandchildren; mother Bonnie West; brother: Rick (Sheri) West and sister Janalyn (Keith) Short, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, the family will not have a public viewing or memorial as they will be celebrating his life as a family. Greg will be laid to rest next to Gerrie at Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale, WA. We ask that memorial donations may be made in Greg’s memory to an animal charity of your choice. We would like to thank Aspire Hospice, and Nurse Janet for the wonderful care in the past few months – he always enjoyed your visits.
