H. Grant Hood Obituary (1931 - 2016)

Grant Hood – private pilot; awesome singer; jokester; fun-loving husband, dad, grandpa and a man of faith died Wednesday October 19, 2016 in Riverton, Utah surrounded by his family. An aviation buff and pilot, he worked on and flew any airplane, any time. He served our country in U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and retired from the Utah Air National Guard after 20 years of service. Grant fulfilled an L.D.S. mission to the West Central States mission from 1959 – 1961. Grant's singing talents were famous! Beginning with BYU Madrigals, then on his mission a part of the "Mission-Aires" quartet. He and his wife Susan sang for years in the Sacra Dulce Chorus and Salt Lake Symphonic choir. He loved woodworking. Grant's kindness, sincerity and sense of humor were endearing - folks liked to be around him! He graduated from West High in Salt Lake and earned his bachelor's from BYU. He married Susan Zarbock in the Salt Lake L.D.S temple on November 10, 1961. Grant was a faithful and devoted husband, a family man, and a man of God. Grant is preceded in death by his son Don E. Hood, his parents and five siblings. He is survived by his wife Susan Zarbock Hood, their children Shelli (Chad) Christensen; Randall (Linda) Hood; Matthew (Liza) Hood, 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and brother George (Sharen) Hood. We have grateful hearts for the happy and loving staff at Riverton Hospital in the ICU unit. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11:00am at Tithing Hill Chapel, 1208 West 12400 South, Riverton, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S), South Jordan, UT and on Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 am at the church. Interment at Utah Veterans Memorial Park. Funeral Home: Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W.
