Click HERE to view Services for Hal Anderson Austin Hal Anderson passed away November 28, 2020 at the age of 88, due to age and COVID complications. He was born February 10, 1932 to Austin and Gertrude Anderson, and was raised in Gunnison, Utah where he attended Gunnison High School and excelled in Basketball. Following his graduation from high school, he served in the US Army; then went on to attend Snow College where he played for their basketball team. After transferring to BYU he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science, and continued his education at the University of Utah where he received his teaching certificate. He pursued additional postgraduate work at Utah State University during the first part of his career as a junior high teacher in the Granite School District where he taught for over 33 years. He also worked as a tax consultant which kept him busy throughout his life. While attending BYU he met his sweetheart Renee Rasmussen. They were married in the Manti Temple, June 8, 1955, and spent the next 60 years together until Renee’s passing in 2015. Hal was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings as well as serving in the Jordan River Temple for 20 years as a veil worker. He enjoyed playing tennis with his friends which he continued doing into his 80’s. He loved his flowers, roses, tomato & raspberry gardens, and working in the yard; but he loved his family most of all and worked very hard throughout his life to take care of those he loved dearly. He spoke kindly of everyone, and always told you how proud he was of you. He was kind, gracious, and loved serving others. He was truly a good neighbor, friend, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband. Hal is survived by their 5 children: Shauna (Rick) Lloyd, Scott (Lonna), Trent (Karen), Michelle (Doug) McDougal, Derek (Brooke), 17 Grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Survived by siblings: Bonnie (Bill deceased) Nay, Pauline (Kenley deceased) Christiansen, Julie (Paul) Fjeldsted, and Johnny (Sherrie) Anderson. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Renee, sister Verlyne (Dwaine) Burr, and brother Kim Anderson. Survived by in-laws: Rae Dawn (Gordon deceased) Sutherland; Deanna Thompson; Bryan (Kathy) Rasmussen. A private service will be held for immediate family on December 3, 2020 at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley. Interment in the Salina Utah East Side Cemetery at 2:00 PM for immediate and extended family.
