Herbert Junior Allen Obituary (1925 - 2006)

Herbert Junior Allen,80, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2006 in the company of his loving family. He was born on December 18, 1925, to Herbert Lee and Matilda Smith Allen. He married his lifelong love, Vilate LeCheminant on June 1, 1947. Herb proudly served as Radioman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II and participated in 15 major engagements in the Pacific. He was aboard one of the first ships into Japan (LST 892) following the surrender. He was recalled into service during the Korean conflict. After the War he worked in the window/door business and owned and operated his own business, Solar Window Company. Herb is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vilate, and by 5 of his children, Karen, Audrey (Curtis) Hughes, Dale (Barbara), Paul (Mary Jane), and Glen (Tawna) as well as his brother, LeRoy (Betty) and sister, Barbara (Eldon) Gibby, 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. His son, John, predeceased him, as did brothers, John and Stan, and sister, Wilma Kracaw. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tues., Aug. 8, 2006, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, UT. Family and friends may visit Mon., Aug 7th from 6-8 pm or Tues. Aug. 8th from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment and Honor Guard, Murray City Cemetery.
